Wedding Dress styles that never go out of fashion

On the 19th of May 2018, millions of people across the globe tuned into the wedding of the year. In a ceremony that perfectly combined the traditional and the modern, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in front of the world. Yet whilst people from all walks of life tuned in to see the spectacle, there was only one question on the lips of the world - what wedding dress would Megan wear?

In the end she opted for a beautiful, but understated, Givenchy wedding gown and the world watched in awe as her veil trailed behind her.

Whilst some wedding traditions have slowly started to fall by the wayside, the wedding dress will always remain at the heart of a wedding day.

Princess // This style hardly needs a description and I’m sure that you are already accurately picturing what I mean. It’s the meringue bottomed, sweetheart corset style that would be worthy of Belle herself. This is the dress that inspires images of fairytale weddings, surrounded by turrets and roses galore. It’s timeless because of its Disney elegance and for that reason, it will never go out of style.

Mermaid // It’s another style that could be directly from a Disney movie and perhaps, for that reason, it is one that is likely to remain in trend. The mermaid dress is more understated in it’s elegance than the aforementioned Princess style and is beautiful in it’s own way. This tailored and fitted style is the most flattering of all wedding dress and is probably the easiest to wear. Over the last few years it’s a trend that has soared in popularity and it’s not going anywhere yet.

Colour // Whilst white is the most popular colour for a wedding dress, there has been a huge increase in the use of colour over the last decade. Perhaps it’s the aging millennial generation and their refusal to follow traditions that has caused it’s dramatic rise, but coloured wedding dresses are an emerging phenomenon.

Lace // We started this article by mentioning Meghan Markle’s wedding dress and so it seems fitting that we end it with Kate Middleton’s. In the fashion world lace is a bit a like a boomerang, it seems to return with glory every few years. It’s traditional but modern, simple but stylish, affordable but elegant. So there is little surprise that it has re-emerged over the past decade, reclaiming its place on the wedding stage. It’s a wedding dress staple and we are huge fans.
