Wedding Trends – The Dress
Your wedding dress plays a pivotal part on your wedding day. It not only sets the theme of your wedding, it also reflects your personal style and taste in fashion at a momentous time in your life. ‘The dress’ must be just right – it has to make you feel more special and beautiful than at any point in your life, while making you feel comfortable and complimenting your body shape. Your wedding photos and video you look back on for years to come will serve you as a reminder of not just the day you married your soulmate, but how utterly beautiful you looked in your dress. This is why we film so much footage of the bride in her dress – from the moment she puts it on and from the second her husband-to-be lays eyes on her, we know how treasured these moments are.
Dress trends change each year, so in our latest Wedding Trends for 2017 blog we’ve taken a snap shot of our favourite dress trends which have emerged in 2017 and will take precedence in 2018.
Bows
From structured statements to dainty satin bows: the traditional motif has returned to wedding fashion with an updated twist. A bow can tie your wedding outfit together and be suited to both ultra-feminine and unconventional brides.
Feathers
Add romantic texture to your wedding attire by choosing a dress adorned with feathers. Radiate vintage glamour with either a full skirt of feathers or add some subtle ‘Great Gatsby’ detailing with feathers in your hair.
Colour
More brides are choosing to wear colour over the traditional ivory and white gowns. Adding a splash of Pantone inspired colour is a popular trend from the recent New York Bridal Week with powder blue, dusty pink and decadent gold popular hues on the runway.
Bold florals
The perfect dress for a girly bride looking for something out of the ordinary is one made from a beautiful floral printed fabric. Enjoy the playful side of wedding fashion by choosing a bold flowery print which will leave your guests awe struck.
Embellishment
For brides who love their bling, opt for a bridal gown with heavy embellishment. Crystal beading, multi-coloured embroidery, delicate lace and 3D applique are all details which make your dress stand out from the crowd.
Off-the-Shoulder
The Brigette Bardot inspired look has been popular in high street fashion this summer season and this has influenced bridal designers in recent years. The neckline is perfect for brides who wish to show off their décolletage without going full strapless.
Plunging Neckline
A sassy detail for a bride who is no shrinking violet. A plunging neckline elongates the silhouette while giving a more seductive feel to your wedding dress.
