It was such an honour to be able to capture Olivia & Luke’s magical day. Here’s their story…

Why did you pick your venue, and what makes it special to you?

The venue is Olivia's family farm - where she grew up. It's been home to the Phoenixs for a few generations. Olivia's grandparents both passed away over the last six months, but used to live across the road. The farm and the farm house is host to lots of fun family memories today - Easters, Christmas, birthdays etc. There's no where else we could imagine getting married.       

It's a real honour to have been chosen to capture your special day - thank you! We would love to know why you chose us - what is it about our work that you like?

The videos felt like proper films and everyone I watched gave me goosebumps. We feel like you really capture the spirit of the wedding, while also the romance of the day.

What is important in life to you?

Family, friends, fun, laughter and good times. 

What is a typical Sunday/day off together like for you?

We love to eat, head out to the countryside for long walks and watch films together (we are making our way through the all time classics list!). Probably a trip to a pub for a pint/wine. Lockown invovled a lot of puzzles and boardgames too. 

How did you meet each other?

we met when we were both working for MPs in the Houses of Commons. We spent a lot of time in the bar in Parliament :)

How about the proposal? Tell us everything! :-)

We went on holiday to Canada - a roadtrip starting in Calagary, across to Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Olivia thought the proposal was expected (her mum had made it clear Luke needed to get on with it!) and thought multiple times during the trip that 'today might be the day' but Luke waited until right at the end of the holiday. We went to Cox Bay beach on Vancouver Island, climbed up to rock overlooking the sea. It was a bit jaggedy so wasn't easy for Luke to get down on one knee so he sort of bobbed. There were just a few surfers around and one must have spotted and gave us a thumbs up.

Why did you choose each other over anyone else?

I chose Luke because as soon as I met him I couldn't stop thinking about him. We are similar but compliment each other . I choose Olivia for the same reasons, it was attraction at first sight and then when we started to spend time iwth each other I loved her personality and sense of fun.

How do you think your partner makes you better?

Luke makes Olivia relax, reminds her not to sweat the small stuff, to laugh more, take herself less seriously and enjoy the here and now. Olivia helps Luke to be a bit more organised and to actually do all the things he wants to and enjoys, as well as making me relaxed when stressed and to try new things.In the busyness of day to day life, making sure we always prioritise quality time together.

What part of marriage do you think will be the most challenging?

What's the one thing you've never done but dream of being able to do one day?

Go to Japan

What makes your partner unique?

Luke is able to get one with everyone, he makes people feel welcomed and relaxed in whatever setting.  Olivia is very thoughtful, kind and always thinks of others and reminds me to do the same. 

If you could describe your partner in 5 words, what would they be?

Luke is loveable, kind, funny, sociable and  cute 
Olivia is thoughtful, beautiful, intellegent, organised and loves to dance

Tell us about your wedding plans so far - anything you would like to mention (including fears, what excites you, etc.)?

Our wedding has been pretty much planned since March 2020 - so we've had a long time to wait. We are both still quite anxious about it happening and can't really picturing it actually taking place. So we can't wait for it to actually start becoming real - the marquee going up, the tables being set, sorting out the church etc. 

What sort of music do you like, and who do you listen to on a regular basis?

We both like different music - Olivia likes pop, rnb and Luke is more indie/folkie 
We picked our band because they do a lot of motown which if we are in the car together is normally a compromise (As well as country music or the Beatles!)

In terms of style, look and feel, how would you summarise your wedding day?

Relaxed but elegant. 

Finally... why are you marrying each other?!? :-)

We made it through lockdown together so we must be meant to be :D
