REBECCA & NICK | AN ISLAND HALL WEDDING
REBECCA & NICK | AN ISLAND HALL WEDDING
18.09.21
It was such an honour to be able to capture Rebecca & Nick’s magical day. Here’s their story…
Feature
Why did you pick your venue, and what makes it special to you?
Island Hall is such a beautiful venue ... I love Georgian architecture and the house is a wonderful example! I was attracted to the interior details (eg staircase, fireplaces etc) as well as the grand exterior. The grounds are also stunning . If the weather is OK then we will have the drinks reception (immediately after the church service) on the lawn, so hopefully you will be able to capture guests arriving / drinking outside the house. The house is also unusual in that it has its own private island ... if we could include some shots of the bridge, river etc in the reel that would be great.
It's a real honour to have been chosen to capture your special day - thank you! We would love to know why you chose us - what is it about our work that you like?
Romantic while still sticking to classic video style. I didn't want anything too fashionable / influenced by instagram. Not keen on grainy filters etc.
What is important in life to you?
Nick, family and friends, dogs .... everything else is just window-dressing! Having said that I do love pretty things ... My work involves the fashion and beauty industries, as well as art history - so aesthetic is important to me.
What is a typical Sunday/day off together like for you?
On a quiet day: cooking, walking the dogs, hanging out with Will and Amelie. On a busy / unusual day - heading into London or somewhere to visit an exhibition or see friends.
How did you meet each other?
Online
How about the proposal? Tell us everything! :-)
Over rhubarb crumble in the pub where we had our first date.
Tell us about your wedding plans so far - anything you would like to mention (including fears, what excites you, etc.)?
Having rescheduled many times I am slightly anxious that this will go according to plan. I am hopeful that people will still have a good time without the usual wedding stuff of band, dancing etc. I don't enjoy being the centre of attention and am nervous about that part (mainly the church stuff).
What sort of music do you like, and who do you listen to on a regular basis?
We love everything - classical, opera, jazz and even drum n' bass. The last gig we went to pre-lockdown was Andy C. The last festival was Red Rooster in Suffolk.
In terms of style, look and feel, how would you summarise your wedding day?
I've tried to keep it in keeping with the old and beautiful buildings (the church is mentioned in the Domesday book and Island Hall is a fabulous Georgian mansion). So ... classic, elegant, romantic. It will be relatively formal in that the men will be in morning suits. Tradition is important to me, especially with life events eg weddings.
Finally... why are you marrying each other?!? :-)
Nick is the man of my dreams. Simple!
